Halloweenathon Day 23!

It's the film the UK tried to rebrand as Answer the Call (I think only when it came out on home media as well, that was just the tagine when it was at the cinema), but which the cowards should have called GhostbustHERS.

Not seen this one before.
Was a little the UHD disc only had the one cut of the film on it (4K doesn't seem to do alternate cuts or special features?), but as it's 2 hours 13 minutes, assuming it is the director's cut everyone says is better and don't need to switch to the blu ray.
tbh, if the director's cut is longer, I'm not sure I'd hack it. I prefer comedy films, like horror, when they're shorter and ideally less than two hours.
In a clever reversal of the roles in the original, where the human antagonist had no dick, here Charles Dance has more dick than you can handle.
Hope the lasers aren't going to be shooting out the frame the entire film (was this a 3D film? Is this an artefact of that?). First time it was an amusing coming at you gag, but it's already distracting in the first scene.
Am ready to die for them.

AUTONS
Ozzy Osbourne just... appears?
Bill, we get it's you. You don't need to wear an attention seeking hat.
They... killed Bill Murray?!

Slightly subtle take that for him being the reason they never did a third one.
It should probably be illegal for Chris Hemsworth to be having this much fun.

Not sure about him being with the actual Ghostbusters on the poster. But I suppose he is the biggest name in the film, and at least all of the four make it onto this one.
Having actually spotted the other original Ghostbusters yet, so maybe the attention grabbing hat was a good idea.
Liking the use of the Ghostbusters theme as score. Which I don't think the original films did, they just played the song.
Oh wait, I know her!

If I didn't, the OTT camera shot revealing this otherwise unimportant character would be really strange.
Starting to think Charles Dance may not actually be the villain. What with him only being in the film twice in an hour and a half.
On the other hand, was not expecting who was going to be the final villain at all.
Oh, that explains why he's on the poster as well...
Americans, you've got to explain this one to me. I get Boston is not in New York, but presumably there's some specific gag to having one of their rounders players appear? Is he famous? Is there an irony factor I'm missing?
It's the dad from My Girl!
I... I think I'm in love.
Slightly worried we're this close to the end and at the Slimer and Staypuff cameo stage and my boy Ernie still hasn't had his moment.
OK, I like the Bee Gee dancing. It's in keeping with the spirit of Ghostbusters (that it might be occasionally scary, but no one dies who isn't already dead) that the villain is just mildly humiliating people.
I know this bit from every single lesbian I know achieving simultaneous orgasm watching it.
And there was a very good Twitter thread when this came out about how women in film and TV usually only get to fight in that patented Joss Whedon ballet moves style way. They never get to be bruisers and that's why this is awesome.
Slimmer has a wife?! I don't have a wife.
Slimmer fucks more than me.
Interesting how this becomes more overtly a remake of the first one as it goes along. Down to the chose the nice the form of the creature idea.

Mind, the second skewered back that way as well, I guess Ghostbusters writers just love that last act.
But of course Ernie Hudson got the smallest cameo of the three surviving original Ghostbusters and right at the end like they nearly forgot to do it.

Wouldn't be a Ghostbusters film if they didn't fuck Ernie over. Hope he got a shit load of money for it.
How gay you all are just increased 500%.
Though it is interesting how they get round the "only minimal LGBT rep because we've got to sell these films in countries it can easily be cut out" thing that plagues/provides a convenient excuse for most blockbusters by just writing Holtzman as super gay without saying it aloud.
There's like four versions of the Ghostbusters theme listed in the songs on the end credits and only the original isn't awful.
Oh that was a *nice* film. In the best way. Only real complaint I'd have is the old cast cameos (bar Ernie) were trying too hard to get your attention.

I'd almost been reluctant to watch this for years because the way men with no dicks had behaved about it had drained the fun.
I feel silly for waiting so long.

Especially when sensible people like @tainkirrahe and especially @jobot935 had been such big advocates.

It was the Ghostbusters you remember the first one being rather than it actually was (all the fun, no sexual harassment or blow jobs).
