my fav Punpun lines:

This list contains all the most stimulating lines (which tackles existential questions/quotes/ relatable/interesting thoughts/ bluntly depressing/nihilistic)... chronologically!
1- “did God create Men or did men create God…?” Ch.4,
2- "Well, love is like a drug to counterattack the terror of solitude… but if you don’t want to experience the further terror of withdrawal, being alone is definitely not a mistake” Cap.30
3- “I’m sickened by my own puerility. What’s the meaning of superficial kindness” Cap.31
4- “Usual days passing in the usual way.. inevitably leading to the usual future.. I’m feeling like a jigsaw puzzle with a missing piece” Cap.33
5-

“-Mr. Onodera, are you happy now?
-I have acceptance, but not satisfaction” Cap.34
6- Running naked, killing.. Everything’s possible if u ignore morality. That’s why they insist on teaching u cooperation n ethics when you’re young

But the world is Set Up to force people to fight, cheat and steal as a Default... Trying to live with that contradiction is torture
7- “Because you don’t know who you are You create a god to cling to, and then heap all your fears and responsibilities onto him… and somehow you survive. Is that being human ?” Cap.53
8- “what if the point of my life is to endlessly run away from momentary anxiety and loneliness” Cap.60
9- “I lost my reason for living years ago.. I don’t really have a reason to die either, so I’m just hanging around out of habit” Cap. 61
10- “is it okay for my life to take such a simple path?”

Cap. 75
11-“I think in 10 years you’ll still be looking for excuses.. I don’t mind though, lots of people are satisfied playing the despair game” Cap. 81
(before i keep going on with this list i just wanna specify that i tried my best to pick out only lines that an outsider can easily grasp the gist of.

because there are A LOT of other "deep" lines that need the context of what's going on to fully catch the meaning)
12
“I was pretty disappointed when you didn’t speak up.. we live in a competitive society and opting out because you’re afraid to lose is so pathetic.. And justifying it with the fact that you aren’t good at communicating with people is self-indulgent” Cap.83
13-

“tbh I'm not actually in university, nor do I play football, nor do I have a girlfriend.
I’m not really happy with my life rn, but I don't hate her either.. I’m just a seaweed that aimlessly lives days after days” Cap.106
14- “what if we could just ooze together like slime and die” Cap.109
15-

“what if my life is just staying in that dark house and getting older” Cap.110
16-

“It’s one less person.. That’s all there is to it. People aren’t interested in each other, no matter what you think… Will anyone be sad or hurt by her death?.. And isn’t that the same thing as never existing in the first place?” Cap.116
17-

“people’s hearts are an abyss.. Once you start doubting there’s no end… I couldn’t erase my skepticism for inaccuracies, but the more you seek truth, the mistier and more elusive it gets. So I figured out that truth is something you create yourself” Cap.134
18-

"When I try to put those emotions into words, it comes out choppy and vague and makes me so ashamed. It feels like I’m exposing myself to ridicule, and I don’t like it..” Cap.145
19-

"No matter how fulfilling your life is, aren’t you all here to compare yourselves to each other?” Cap.146
20-

Okay I just want to do 1 quote as if someone read the manga so you might wanna dip if you don’t want spoilers.

So punpun had a “hole”/an injury on the right eye made by Aiko and since then, that’s from where “God”’s face used to appear when exchanging with punpun on these-
last 10 chapters… after a conflicting debate about punpun’s satisfaction with his life decisions following Aiko’s death, punpun self-harmed himself with a knife on that right eye as a symbolism of “killing God off of his life”

And now he said “There is no God, no Aiko, Punpun
didn’t have to worry about tomorrow and could finally sleep… Goodnight PunPun”

My words can’t nearly describe how intense this scene was but this is just 1 of plenty brilliant uses of allegories, symbolisms, metaphors, that inio squeezed into this manga. I can’t quote them a-
all cos It’d take too much time.

This manga made think about life in the deepest way I’ve experienced on a manga. I need to mention its unique use of artstyle as well (pls look this tweet)… it’s just top 1 both from writing and art standpoint. https://twitter.com/gtoisa10/status/1319996145846845441?s=20
It made me feel like shit. It made me cried. There’s 0 reviews that can grasp every thoughts/interpretations that this manga allows through both it's use of art and writing.

It’s now my favorite manga of all time and Inio Asano is also my favorite mangaka of all time.
Okay i'm so annoying with this but i just wanna link to this thread some other thoughts about the ending of Punpun's journey! https://twitter.com/gtoisa10/status/1321431887647223811?s=20
