I started writing about the lives of former Nigerian rulers from 1960— I started breaking down long periods from several books into 1500-3000 word essays. I had massive readership. But

I exhausted the books I had in my library. I Pitched the work to several media houses to get
funding so I could buy more books but got rejections. 'Not notable. Not our publication standard.' Etc. I got tired of doing all that cutting and writing and editing. Grateful to @AlausaIssaSanni @osujichima47 and @sefadeola who contributed to the project. But I think the project
needs to return. When I get a break off work in December, I'm going to dedicate between #50, 000- #100, 000 to wake up the project. This is going to cover book purchase & Facebook Ads. Yes. I want it to be everywhere when I resume. I know these stories. I've been reading TELL
since I was a boy. I started writing them because many people did not have the privilege that I had. And we need these stories to be out. We need people to see that Murtala Muhammed is not a hero. That Babangida was a bastard. That Obasanjo is a beast. That 1983/4 Buhari is
2020 Buhari. We need to remind ourselves that Atiku has been in the corridor of power since Nigeria's 3rd Republic & was supposed to be MKO Abiola's deputy. We need people to know.

I wanted to carry the project all by myself initially because I did not want to be censored.
This was, in fact, why I did not pitch it in the first place. I guess this is where it is going back to.

May the Labour of Herbert Macaulay not be in vain. Amen.
