So here's my cyberpunk hot take for anyone who wants it.

In this picture is a feminine leaning but androgynous person with a huge cock (blurred out) in a soft drink ad saying "mix it up"

I feel like as a transgender woman, I am OBLIGATED to be offended by this.
I have to admit, when I saw this, I wasn't too offended. My first thought was that this is a non-binary person. In such fiction, they probably would be. And as an enby they're not too offensive.

It's offensive in the same way that any ad sexualizing people is offensive.

But..
There's a large portion of society that views transgender women as nothing more than men who are sexual fetishists, there is a subset of those that think we are all predators, and then the men that see us as nothing but fetish objects.

Our culture hypersexualizes trans women.
The problem is this - this sort of thing is seen as a canonical trans woman.

She's out there, showing her cock to the world, loud and proud, whether you want to see it or not.

And yeah, that ad reinforces every negative stereotype, because society lacks nuance.
Unless you know about trans people, the first thought most people have is that it's something sexual

We internalize this. Any expression of sexuality on our part is seen as proof that we aren't women. We are perverts, objects, or predators.

So yes, the ad is a problem.

But..
But then we have this. A cisgender woman (that's confirmed) who chose to cosplay as this person.

I have to say, as a cosplayer, I think she did an amazing job. Nailed it.

But........
There is no way a transgender woman or AMAB enby could cosplay this character without having every aspect of her or their identity assaulted.

Yet, this cis woman is praised and hailed for her work and choices. She gets thousands of likes, and retweeted by the company itself.
Even the first comment there, anti SJW.

She gets to wear our bodies as a costume and be praised, meanwhile if we actually look like that we are all terrible fetishistic men.

And her response to "transface cosplay" is to say that cis people face discrimination too.
If trans women weren't hypersexualized, this ad would be just another sexualized ad selling a product. (which is problematic enough on its own)

But because we are, it's a big problem.
My reaction:

This whole thing just reminds me how the world views us, and that makes me sad.

I look at this cosplayer, and I am very disappointed in her.
Also, a man can masturbate on zoom in front of people and he's got people circling the wagons to defend him.

Everything about that is horrendous.

If a trans woman wore this outfit in public, she'd have a mob of people with pitchforks, and I expect she'd be brought up on charges
And before someone asks - no, I'm having not sour-grapes, I have no desire to dress like that or cosplay that character.

That outfit is inappropriate in public, it'd be clubwear or something similar.
I have that say that last tweet because of everything I said earlier.

People will use this and try to twist what I'm saying into trans women should be able to whip it out for everyone to see if they want to or not.

No, that's not it. No, no one should do that.
This whole thing makes me sad about the state of the world today.

If, one day, an enby could go to a club like that and just have it be clubwear with no social memory of negative stereotypes about trans women.

Honestly, it'd be a better world
You aren't supposed to look at cyberpunk and think "this is an improvement over what we have today."
