Public health officials will always argue for a maximum degree of lockdown in a pandemic. That's fine. That's their job. But Ford has an obligation to weigh other societal concerns -- the economy, suicide, drug abuse prevention, elective surgery, in making his decisions.

Only ideologues believe the solution to COVID-19 is either to open everything up or close everything down. The only sensible way forward is a balanced approach using expert advice from all sectors of Canadian (and Ontario) society, not just the public health sector.
