I think one reason I love their movies so much is because not only was it one of the first times that I felt like I was really engaging with film history
but also because I did it all by myself!
but also because I did it all by myself!
there was just this time in late high school & early college where I was watching more movies than ever and eventually I was like
“what even IS the French New Wave?”
(I didn’t go to film school: I’m literally THAT MUCH of a loser that I sought out the French New Wave BY MYSELF)

and the more of their movies I watched the more enamored I became with how weird and experimental and amazing they were and just being able to draw a through-line from the risks they took to how films are shot now and it was like discovering buried treasure
and the crazy thing’s that these guys got even WEIRDER as they got older!
constantly just surpassing their own benchmarks and getting even more daring with their art
AND I LOVE THAT!!!

and the best part of it all’s that I’m still finding more to this day!
there’s still PLENTY that I haven’t seen and that honestly makes me so happy!!
I hope everybody enjoyed this thread hahaha I’m gonna go watch more movies!!!
