Some important details to be aware of on this annoucnement about #Sudan and #Israel.

1. Sudanese officials have said that Sudan agreed in principle to normalize with Israel, but that such a decision would have to be ratified by a parliament that doesn't exist yet.

2. #Trump tried to get @netanyahu to take a dig at @JoeBiden and Bibi blatantly dodged it. He seems to sense the winds changing.

3. like the deals with Bahrain and UAE, this isn't a peace deal, as Israel and Sudan have never fought.

2/
4. It will be important to watch how this plays out in #Sudan politically. The road they're on toward democracy is a bumpy one, and the current PM is a military leader. The civil society groups will have to consider carefully how to respond....

3/
...They won't dare risk the US reversing its decision to take Sudan off the state sponsors of terrorism list, something which can only happen if #Congress agrees to it within 45 days.
Sudan's transitional leadership will need to gauge public reaction fast and balance concerns

4/
The Sudanese leadership certainly hopes they can delay the difficult internal wrangling long enough to get congressional approval for their removal from the list. And then, they are likely to put off official normalization until a more legit gov is in place.

5/
The question is whether #Israel and the US will allow Sudan all of that flexibility. They might just be happy with the PR win, but if not, Sudan can't afford to ignore their pressure. Their economy is in freefall, they must have this deal.

6/
It will be imperative to delay the US and Israeli push for full normalization. Doing it hastily, as it has gone these last few weeks, seriously endangers what stability and progress has been made in #Sudan.
