A thread on mail-in voting
I live in Colorado which has universal mail-in voting (and automatic voter registration — yea, Colorado!)
My mail-in ballot was rejected
A thread on why this is a good thing in a state that is well run & values enfranchising its citizens

Colorado mails every registered voter a unique, voter-specific ballot w/ a bar code for automated processing.
Those ballots are completed at home, inserted into a secrecy sleeve, then inserted into a return envelope which the voter must sign attesting to its source

You can return ballot by mail or at one of easily accessible drop off locations — my little rural county of <30k people has 3 locations (yeah, I’m looking at you @GovAbbott & TX!) incl this cool historic court house
Or you can vote in person for 15 days before election

This is how I easily & quickly discovered my ballot had been rejected: http://www.govotecolorado.gov"> http://www.govotecolorado.gov
I have an admittedly wonky signature & the election officials decided it wasn’t close enough to sig on file
Kudos to diligence of election officials

I followed the link from my phone while sipping coffee by the fire w/ my faithful pack (it’s 18 degrees here!).
The link asked for a couple pieces of the info, a signature, then prompted me to take a photo of my Drivers License which uploaded quickly

I was soon able to rejoin the King of the North warding off the chill (10 for his intent, but only 6.5 for his blanket execution) of an early winter

All this to say....Colorado proves that valuing and empowering voters is possible while also eliminating any real chance for ballot fraud
There is zero reason ***other than deliberate voter suppression and disenfranchisement*** that similar systems not in place nationwide

You have to ask yourself that if safe, secure, accessible voting is so clearly possible in Colorado why are some politicians virulently opposed to it?!?!
Meanwhile I will be thankful to live in a well-governed state that values & empowers its citizens
