I can tell when a suburban neighborhood is mostly Black folk cuz it be hella cars parked on the street lmao
I grew up in the suburbs and been in all kinds of suburban neighborhoods. Our last neighborhood was mostly Black and Brown ppl. And there would be so many cars parked in the driveway and the street
The neighborhood we stay in now is mostly white and there aren’t cars parked on the street bc it’s against their “rules.” They’ll fine you for parking your car on the street overnight.

Me and my dad were talking about how their “rules” be intentional and coded as hell.
If you think about it, for Black ppl and other poc, there’s so many cars bc usually we have extended family that stay with us or the kids haven’t moved out yet. Not usually the case with white ppl for a number of reasons 🙃
Like my dad pointed out: “yeah like they’ll put their parents in a nursing home... black folk we usually have our parents stay with us when they get older”
It’s little things like why cars are parked on a street that show such a cultural diff between Black ppl/poc and white ppl. I think yt ppl know this this why they come up with rules like “no parking cars on the street”
I know their rules be intentional bc their “rule” about not parking cars on the street has negatively affected not only my family but our latino next door neighbors.

Literally gotten into it with the YT ppl here about us parking our cars on the streets. It’s ridiculous.
We park our cars bc we don’t want to play ring around the car every time one of us has to go to work. Something my white neighbors don’t seem to get 🙃🙃🙃
I miss our old neighborhood. It was so nice to live around Black folk.
