Predictable confusion from last night's debate "discussion" on #KidsInCages. 1. The moral and legal horror comes from incarcerating children, r/less of whether in wired pens (as Obama admin did briefly) or walled prison camps (as Obama did for years). Trump also did both. /1
2. Imprisoning children is unconscionable; stealing them from their parents is worse. That should only happen when a judge finds the parent is a danger to the child. Immigration status should make no difference. Only Trump admin stole children - i.e., w no evidence of danger. /2
3. Every time the parent of a child is deported, the Govt forces the family to consider separation. It's not stealing children, but it is awful. Millions of American children have been traumatized by this. Obama deported far more parents than Trump. Trump tried... /3
but failed to deport more than Obama because sanctuary cities and states refused to cooperate w the mass deportation agenda. So... to protect children, we must a) end all family "detention"; and b) expand sanctuary policies. Regardless of who wins the election. /end
