Not to take away from this, but to be straight up it’s important to note that the Basketball Times’ Top 20 is flawed and simply bad.

1) Swarthmore (#3) was way too high to begin with, and they and Brockport (#8) have already announced that they will not compete in winter sports. https://twitter.com/yuathletics/status/1319378192747081728
2) St. Thomas will be really good if they play, but #2 is too high for a team which loses Hannah & Anderson. Anders Nelson is an absolute star, though.

3) Mount Union at 10 & John’s Hopkins at 17 is indefensible. Hopkins was Top 15 last year, & essentially brings back everyone.
4) Leaving out Illinois Wesleyan (returns everyone; widely considered to be even with Elmhurst coming into this year), Albion (21-5 last year, returns everyone), and Tufts (Savage graduates but Luke Rogers might be a First Team All-American if they are able to play) is terrible.
Takeaway: Predictions made before rosters come out and teams announce that they will play do not hold much water. We already know that if the Macs play this year, they will be a top team. It’s great to receive recognition, but for the Macs, that’s the expectation.
