1. If you’re envious of someone else's book idea, congratulations! Now you know what kind of book you want to write

2. Just because someone has “done it before” doesn’t mean you can’t write it. Most ideas have been written about before. Get creative. Find a way to do the envied idea in a new, fresh way! (There’s always a way. Promise.)

3. Envy is just desire + a mean voice in your head that says, “You could never do that.” Get rid of the mean voice and replace it with a curious one: “You wanna do that? Cool. How could we make that happen?”

4. Your version could be just as cool. Your version could be an homage to the idea you're envious of. Your version could say something new. Your version would be yours.
