1./ Whose report will we believe?

Did it not happen?

Where are the relatives of the deceased? Who are the deceased?

Mr. Governor visited Reddington. How many casualties were there?

I got into conversation today with a young friend.

2./ She was talking about the #LekkiMassacre2020 . We talked about Mr. President’s speech last night and I said;

“Well, maybe it didn’t happen. That’s why he didn’t speak on it.” She burst out. “Aunty! Please don’t say that I have terrible pictures from that night.”

3./ I agreed that there are all kinds of pictures online, but that many have been debunked. She said to me. “Aunty, I’m not talking about online pictures. My friend who is a nurse works in a hospital in —— sent me pictures of the incident. She had to treat some of these victims.

4./ The casualties were brought to her hospital, some were even brought by rough thugs. When they tried to refuse to treat because gunshot wounds, the crowd threatened to burn down the hospital.

Sharp sharp, even though she has no experience in gunshot wounds,

5./ she joined in trying to remove bullets and alleviate the pain of the injured.”

I chose to do a bit more devil’s advocating. She was having none of that. She said to me, let me get you the pictures.

These hospitals are not in Victoria Island and Ikoyi.

6./ Their ambulance was sent to the Lekki toll gate and was blocked by military men. The photographs are gruesome.

#LekkiMassacre2020 happened. Let’s not desecrate the memory of the dead by sweeping it under the carpet with all the other terrible events in our history

7./ which we have decided to unlook.
