Chief just shared a video with me. Y’know those videos where you don’t expect the plot twist at the end, like a clown rushing out of nowhere or a snake covering the screen.

On a normal day, I’d scream and fling my phone away. But today, I barely even flinched.

I was going to make a joke about how nothing can scare me anymore after what we’ve been through this past week, but trust the Holy Spirit to make it a teachable moment.

He said, “Without the element of surprise, fear isn’t as effective.” Please take a minute to digest this.

You see, the video didn’t scare me at all because I KNEW something would happen. I anticipated the plot twist. I knew someone would jump out at me on the screen.

Without the element of surprise, fear isn’t as effective.

Understand this because the devil does. Very well.

It is how he operates — by catching you unawares. This is why apostle Paul, in 2 Corinthians 2:11, asks us not to be ignorant of the devil’s tactics.

Basically, don’t let him take you 'fi idiat.' Anticipate his every move, and plan accordingly [in the place of prayer.]

Someone cannot surprise you if you know that they plan to. Likewise, the devil cannot scare you if you’re aware and well-prepared for that.

Remember: Without the element of surprise, fear isn’t as effective. Don’t be ignorant of Satan’s strategies.

God bless you.
