What are some good anime from around 99-06 that have been buried under the "classics" of that era and don't get enough exposure? Older stuff is good too, but the pool is smaller there, and I've swam through it more thoroughly.

It seems like there is a nice resurgence of interest in 20th century cel anime, and of course, late 00s to contemporary stuff still gets talked about. But it seems like there is a lot of stuff inbetween and not much coverage.

It would be great if more people talked about older obscurities in general. Much of what we know of older anime, and what is worth watching, was determined by fans back then with a very different perspective than us - so going back and digging around and making a case to others
