My mom grew up rationing bread. Her parents worked hard so my aunts and uncles could have a good life. And even tho I haven’t met most of my family, I’m proud of everything they’ve accomplished. For a short list:
My uncle got to sign my birth certificate because he was the elected county president when I was born
My mom herself didn’t finish high school. But she’s still the best writer I know. She worked hard to earn her GED and associates degree in the states between having a full time job and raising me and my siblings
My dad couldn’t afford college growing up. Still, he’s the most intelligent person I know. And when he got a job here he payed for my uncles college (who’s now a recognized professor in the whole of Latin America). As for me,
I earned a 6 figure job at 22 year’s old. My 20 year old sister is in the foster school of business. My 17 year old sister is the kindest and most hardworking person I know. My six year old brother is determined, and brilliant. My six year old sister is intelligent, and kind.
My point is that we may not have been born in the United States, but we’re not fucking dumb
