Aside from the Rudy Giuliani stuff, #Borat2 really put a spotlight on just how much really obvious child abuse people will witness playing out right in front of them and play along with.

CW for the rest of the thread.
Borat takes his daughter, who at this point in the movie is filthy and disheveled, to a farm store to buy a cage for her to sleep in, and the employee acts like it's totally normal for a man to buy a cage for his teenage daughter.
He also takes her to the Texas State Fair, still looking disheveled and filthy, has her on a leash, and people just sort of glance at it and look away.
There's another scene where I'm really hoping the whole thing was scripted and the other party was an actress, because if it wasn't scripted, the person should have called CPS the second Borat left the house.
Like, the stuff the movie depicted are things that we've actually seen happen in real life to multiple homeschool kids, and they're not actually over-the-top and as unrealistic as people might think.
Then there's the scenes where people believe she's a victim of incest or human trafficking and do absolutely nothing to help her. It's America on display at its absolute worst.
Rudy Giuliani showing that he's a perve in a situation that could have gotten very bad, fast, was just the culmination of a parade of people failing someone who they believed to be a vulnerable teenage girl.
