Going to write a long thread about what’s happening in the education sector of Pakistan and why isn’t anyone talking about it?
Every year medical students appear in a medical entrance exam. Each province has its own medical test which is in accordance to the syllabus of the particular provincial board.
Due to the pandemic, the test had been delayed and was finally scheduled on the 18th of October in the entire country.
However before this test could be conducted @PTIofficial introduced the PMC bill the same day they brought the FATF bill and it was passed by the majority. #RejectPMCSyllabus
The issue arose when PMC (Pakistan medical commission) immediately took over and PMDC (Pakistan medical and dental commission) was declared non functional.
Since PMDC was the body that conducted the entrance tests and now that it had become non functional, inorder for the test to be conducted a there needed to be a functional body
So PMC took over and instead of keeping everything the same they cancelled all the tests to be conducted on 18th October and brought forward new policies
These policies included a single test across the nation, and an unjust criteria or admission.
All the boards in Pakistan have different syllabuses and context inside of them so how is it possible for PMC to conduct a single test nation wide including students of Punjab (a different syllabus) kpk (different syllabus) and same goes for Baluchistan and AJK
The authority to conduct the test has been taken from the provincial governments and handed to an army medical institution (NUMS). Which follows federal board. Students prepared all these months only so their syllabus would be changed a few weeks before the exam?
As for the criteria, they changed it to 50% test and 50%FSC. Knowing the standard of fsc, 50% Criteria for FSC would destroy the chance of deserving students.
Under normal circumstances this might have even been acceptable but this year due to the pandemic students were passed without conducting FSC exams. Not only this but they were passed with additional 3% grace marks!
If this continues to be the situation the medical sector of Pakistan would be destroyed. Deserving and intelligent students wouldn’t get the chance to become doctors and we will see the adverse effects of this in the near future!
Where in the world does change come within a few weeks before the exam? Where in the world is there a different syllabus for each province and then the medical test conducted is single nation wide? The answer is NAYA PAKISTAN!
Lastly all of these changes were brought forward by Dr. Burki who happens to be Imran khans cousin and is a doctor practicing in America. Where in the world does this happen that a doctor who doesn’t even practice in your own country, come and make the rules for you? #RejectPMC
Estimated 2 lac students will appear in this test! This is not only the issue of a single province this is the issue of the entire Pakistan. Please raise a voice against this form of injustice! Share and retweet! The future of medical students depends on you!
