India crossed 10 crores #COVID19 testing milestone, the 3rd highest in the world! It ranks 104 for test/million population
➡️Commendable for a country that is ranked 142 for per capita GDP (IMF ranking 2020)
*⃣Thread examines important testing trends at national & state level

👉Of the 10 crore tests so far, only 4.68 crores are RT-PCR tests
👉7-day avg. TPR has been declining consistently & is now at 5.2%, at the level it was on May 17
👉Growth of tests have been slightly above cases for a while
👉7-d avg. daily testing at 11.2 Lakhs
2/
➡️There are discrepancies between total tests reported by the states & ICMR
➡️For the past few days, the 7-d avg. daily number of tests reported by ICMR has been close to 2 lakhs more than those reported by states combined
➡️these needs to be reconciled
3/
During the recent times, TPM per day has decreased in several states including MH, OD, RJ, MP, HR, PB, KL, GA, PY, & TR.
4/
👉Most states don't report results of testing by test types separately
👉Many are increasingly relying on antigen tests without disclosing if false -ves are being re-tested sufficiently
👉There is a severe lack of transparency in reporting of some key variables by many
