what to do if you misgender someone: (a thread)
before you interact with someone, ALWAYS check their profile. look in their bio, location, and read their pinned tweet if they have one. if they have a carrd, read it.
also please keep in mind that using gendered terms on people who don& #39;t like gendered terms IS misgendering. never use gendered terms on someone if you don& #39;t know whether or not they dislike it.
however, if you follow those steps and still make the stupid mistake of misgendering someone, here is what you should do:
first, take down the tweet where you misgendered them.
second, apologize. and don& #39;t play the victim or overdo it. a simple, "I& #39;m so sorry, it won& #39;t happen again," will suffice.
and if you misgender them AGAIN after that, you might as well deactivate
