Our mind is four dimensional and comprises of:
1) Manas - memory
2) Chitta - intelligence
3) Ego- also known as ahankara
4) Intellect - or Buddhi

To become successful, all you have to do is to create a balance between all 4 dimensions and align it with the soul or the centre. Problem occurs when one take precedence over other; hence balancing is imp- it is about learning about within, interconnections & meditation helps!
Intellect, is more about information-as against western thought, Indian system doesn’t give much credence to intellect as it is a function of information and is useless without integrating with other 3 parts; Manas is abt ur experiences or storage...Chitta is what matters most!
Chitta is the consciousness- which is function of intelligence. But to attain consciousness, one has to tame his intellect, control his Manas, surrender his ego. The ego is actually good but it’s biggest problem is that it tends to uproot u from our centre- the soul....
These masters knew things that we can never even imagine.... I heard this several times to make sense of it... and I am still unsure if that effort was successful or not. Actually, we do need to stop giving too much importance to intellect or buddhi- as it is all abt info!
You can process only what you have inside- you cannot process that u don’t have and that’s why intellect is not that importance. Ego as Swami Ram said, tends to disconnect you from your centre- which is why surrendering it, is important!
It’s better you hear him only - part 1
Part 2 - hear what he says abt Ego!
Let us now see what Guru SN Goenka says about Mind - part 1 of 3 parts
