I used to be the guy that'll tell you to work 18 hours a day, grind it out, and that's what will help you succeed
But then I got burnt out and then tried it again thinking maybe I just wasn't tough enough and then burnt out again
Here's how I did more while working less

Here's how I did more while working less

When I was 19, I was running 4 different brands by myself, thinking that no one else could do it better than me, so I ended up wearing a million different hats
I neglected relationship, health, hobbies, thinking that was the key to success, because 'that's what others do'

As I got older, I met more successful people and discovered that they were only working a few hours a day while being able to balance having a family, hobbies, and taking care of themselves
boy was I shocked
It went against everything that I thought was the necessary grind

I started making some life changes that saw my health, happiness, and business success improve, and you can do the same as well
1. Set 'somewhat' of a structure for yourself
As entrepreneurs, we set our own schedule, but it could also mean we don't have a schedule, and just freestyle our days
I used to go to bed at 5am, wake up at 11 to go to work, and did it for years

I used to go to bed at 5am, wake up at 11 to go to work, and did it for years
Now I set 'small' schedules while still leaving ample room in between the fixed time slots for doing what I need to do that day
9am - gym
11am - work
6pm - reading
9pm - go home
10pm - plan my next day, catch up with GF
12pm - bedtime
9am - gym
11am - work
6pm - reading
9pm - go home
10pm - plan my next day, catch up with GF
12pm - bedtime
You do not need to follow my schedule.
I am more productive later in the day than the morning. Some people are morning people and some people are just better at other times in the day. Don't beat yourself up because you can't wake up at 5:45am to workout.

2. Monitor what you do, and understand where to delegate
You may be good at somethings that no one else can beat you at, but you cannot say the same for everything else, delegate those

As the CEO, it was incredibly exhausting to be leading the organization while sitting in front of a computer doing tasks all day, trying to put out fires
I started hiring people on an hourly basis when I could afford to, to do things that they could do better

The idea was that if I could hire someone for $N an hour, and this frees up the hour for me to do something else for the business that could bring in $N+X an hour, I am able to grow the business by X because I am allocating my time to grow as opposed to sustaining
3. Take a break
I started hosting more dinners at my place, learn how to DJ, skateboard, cook, and other things that bring together my friends during the weekend. It's a nice break in between the chaotic week and a reminder of what you've worked for: freedom

Entrepreneurship gives you freedom, not in the sense of the lack of need to work, but to afford to spend time with your loved ones whenever, do what you want to do at your own discretion.
Hot take but
Live a little.

4. Work smarter
I grew up watching my father, a construction worker, work tirelessly every day to provide for the family, and it instilled the idea that I have to manually do a lot of work in order to be successful
While you should still work hard, but there are better ways

The single biggest change in our business the past year has been automating our processes, thanks to my partner @balakumaradrian
We were able to automate a large portion of our companies processes, reducing the time to do tasks by 80%+
We now have 80% more time to grow

Reporting used to take hours a week, now it's automatic
Communicating and gifting products to influencers used to take 30 minutes, now it takes 3 minutes
By working smarter, we were able to have a greater output with less time input

While entrepreneurship is extremely stressful, it's equally rewarding once you see the fruits of your labor.
