Interesting that this Tory MP talks about responsibility and also tackling reasons for child poverty. The Tories have been in power since 2010 /1 #FreeSchoolMeals
Yet the DWPs own figures show a massive increase in child poverty since they came to power

Food bank demand also absolutely exploded after they came to power. 3/ #foodpoverty
The figures for homelessness are pretty appalling under their watch too. After homelessness was tackled and reduced substantially under Blair, the Tory government allowed it to grow substantially again. 4/ #bedroomtax
All this was caused by austerity of course which was a Conservative Government policy. A deliberate policy to make the rest of us pay whilst the millionaires got richer and hoovered up more and more capital wealth for themselves and the most vulnerable were thrown away. /5
It’s the Tory MPs who are the ones who need to take some responsibility - for their policies, for their decisions and the serious consequences that ordinary people have suffered across the country because of them. /6
I can’t tell you how much this man fills me with contempt! I would not wish severe financial hardship on anyone, it’s the most horrible soul destroying thing. It makes you feel powerless, helpless when you have nothing spare and you suffer another blow that pulls you under /7
It’s like drowning in a pool of mud, it can seem like every move you make just makes you sink further in and the rope you are holding to try and pull you out is getting more and more slippery and harder to grip. /8
But maybe we should make all MPs experience poverty for a spell before they are allowed to stand for office. Is that the only way these arrogant men and women will every gain an ounce of empathy and yes virtue and start to make policy which removes poverty? /end #FeedTheKids
