John Gosslee, the publisher I worked w on my chap at C&R Press—who sexually harassed me throughout the process, culminating in a poetry fest I traveled to for the press where he asked me to go drinking w him & then, once I was nearly blackout, tried to facilitate my having 1/5

sex with a Black man (his specification) in front of him in the room the press was paying for—just acquired ANOTHER press & is still an owner of two lit mags. I wish people would do their research regarding who they sell their shit to!! I shared my story widely on FB a couple 2/5

years ago; fellow press-mates pulled their books; other women messaged me about the sexual harassment they’d experienced from him at AWP & as writers working w him. It’s out there. Do your research before selling the reputation of your mag or press to someone who will ABUSE 3/5

that power and prey on young & vulnerable writers. I have so many more stories about this fucker, and this is the first time I’ve named him publicly, but it took me like nine months to even tell another person about what went down during the poetry event bc I was so fucking 4/5

humiliated I allowed myself to end up in the situation. But I was a fledgling writer, a broke MFAer, & I wanted my publisher to think I was cool. He dangled the pub of my full-length and said I was the kind of writer they wanted. In hindsight, that “compliment” makes me sick. 5/5
