i’m making this thread to try and educate people about what is happening in my country right now, so please if you care about women’s rights please share this so more people can get educated.

in the last month there have been four cases of gang rape. the first one in cusco where a 59 year old woman was raped by four men, the second one in ica where a young woman was raped by two men who are not arrested yet, the third one on a hospital in santo tomas where+

a nurse was raped by four workers of that place.
and the most recent one, in lima a 21 year old woman was raped by five men.

these men where friends with her and this last weekend they all went to a party, she got drunk and they raped her on the same house the party was+

the lawyer of these men said to the press that “the young lady liked the social life” as if that was an excuse for them to rape her.

the judicial power ordered nine months of preventive detention against the five of them.+

and of course comments like this have been made by other men: “men need to vent for a while, from work, from day to day. what’s prettier than a 21-year-old girl, they are poor boys who suffer from the crisis that we are all experiencing (the pandemic).+

here everyone is a judge and they judge, but you have to put yourself in their shoes”. this is the sad reality of my country, i’m tired of being scared every time i see a man pass by me on his car, i’m tired of living with the fear that maybe someday something like this+

could happen to me, tired of knowing there are tons of cases like these that are not being reported because there’s other women being manipulated to stay silent. #megustalavidasocial

exactly a week ago the whole country was mad because we lost on a football game, there were petitions made right after it ended asking for the referee to be removed from the FIFA, but now that a woman was raped by five men there’s only one petition to sign, there’s people+

justifying these five men, and there’s also a wave of kidnappings going on on the country. but of course a football game is more important than the rights and the life of women’s.
