It's amusing to me that MAGA thinks that people are more devoted to their vote method than who they vote for. Which do you think you're more likely to change? The method of you vote or who you vote for? Yeah, thought so. Thread incoming on the silliness of this all. https://twitter.com/Barnes_Law/status/1319351347720798209
The idea that GOPers were going to wait until election day, particularly in states that have robust in person early voting is laughable. MAGAs problem is only with the evil mail (but even Trump says Florida has "good absentee" and not "bad mail). It was never with in person.
States like PA, that have had only mail and a newly developed mail system, we do see this massive partisan shift regarding voting. But Florida has the one of the oldest and most established early/mail vote systems in the country. We've been doing both before I got involved (2008)
Republicans in Florida have long experience voting both by mail and early in person in Florida. And the registration split was always close. In the last 3 elections (2014-2018), the biggest early advantage was Dems +110k in 2016. GOP used to win mail, and Dems in person voting
But both were close. GOP won mail by about 50, and Dems in person by 165k. in 2016. So I guess that's where the "Dem win in person" thing comes from. But that ignores how votes have shifted. Dems have massively shifted to mail, which obviously gives GOP an edge in in person.
The Trump campaign is actively trying to get their supporters to vote by both mail and in person. And GOP, contrary to belief, hasn't abandoned mail. In fact, GOP mail requests are up almost 50% from 2016. It's just dwarfed by Democrat's 150%+ increase in mail requests.
And again, voting in person early is the exact same process as voting in person election day. You sign in, get your ballot, fill it out in the booth, deposit it into the reader. If you support Trump, why wouldn't you want to do this? Especially when Trump wants you to do this.
Imagine being a MAGA sitting at home, reading about how Sleepy Beijing Joe Biden is gonna cancel Christmas and make all the men wear skirts, and sitting there going "I DONT WANNA WEAR SKIRTS" and ignoring the chance t vote down the street and wait two weeks. It doesn't make sense
Both Democrats and Republicans are turning out, which means less voters available for both on election day. There are really some GOP who still think the majority of Republicans will vote on election day in FL, even though GOP will be well over 50% of registered voters by eday.
You can't get over 100% turnout, promise (you also can't get even close to 100%). Early turnout is going to be massive, and the pool of voters much smaller on eday, than people think. People were always going to get impatient and want to vote early. Everyone just wants it done.
MAGA is welcome to think that Dems needed to have this ridiculous combined in person/early advantage (they used to say just mail advantage, but Dems are hitting that, so they shifted goalposts). This is why I'm only worried about making sure our voters are turning out, not theirs
Nate Cohn did a thread on this, and he spoke about how 30% of Dems who said they were voting by mail hadn't put in a request, and a lot of GOP who said they were voting in person had a mail request. Vote methods shift frequently. Vote preference does not https://twitter.com/wdmjones/status/1319382317492731905
