I don’t really do threads but it’s been a really dispiriting few days, so I’ll share some thoughts. It’s been a tough few months for everyone particularly families who’ve lost loved ones or those who have vulnerable relatives who ante terrified of this new disease. Remember 1/
When you’ve had a severe accident and life hangs in the balance, the people who help you by the roadside and make you safe to take to hospital. The people who meet you in ED, give you blood, pain killers, support your blood pressure and stabilise you. The docs and nurses, 2/
Who tell you it’ll be fine, put you at ease, speak to your family, calm them in distress. The team of experts who put you on life support, fix your pelvis, your spine and brain injury. The ones who hold your hand when your scared or delirious. 3/
The physios, specialists who support you to walk again so you can go home. When your down and distressed keep you positive, try to get you back home to your family.
Just a snapshot of one pathway in medicine. 4/
Whether it’s a d day veteran who is delirious and distressed, cared for by a geriatrician, severe pneumonia, stroke or Coronavirus. These are the same teams we really on every day. @mancunianmedic @drphiliplee1 @dr_ianjackson 5/
They are all telling you that coronavirus is real, no hoax. It’s dangerous and can effect anyone, damaging patients and families. Don’t listen to talking heads on social media or in the press, listen to the people who have always been there for you when you really need them
