We are back with another thread! This time it is a thread to help your students nurture their innate curiosity by breaking down a free inquiry project into 5 stages.
Stage 1 (Exploration) - Students begin by narrowing down their passions, interests, goals and wonderings to come up with one topic of inquiry. Students pick something that will be meaningful to them.
Stage 2 (Clarification) - After exploring, students clarify why this inquiry is important, what they plan to do, and the steps they’ll take to get there. As a student, imagine you need to get approval from your teacher before moving forward with your inquiry.
Stage 3 (Investigation) - In order to answer their driving question, students choose one or multiple methods of research. Students need to look at the information they collected and make sure they aren’t missing anything.
Stage 4 (Extend Inquiry) - At this point, students build on the information gained from the investigation stage. They’ve learned more about their topic and begin to design, build, plan, conduct or perform something to extend their learning in a real-life experience.
Stage 5 (Reflection) - At the final stage, students look back and reflect on their project and the entire experience.
