October 22, 2001! My parents’ anniversary! They never stopped arguing and for that we are all thankful!

I remember the day I interviewed for the @PTI job. It was the first time meeting anybody and Tony and Mike were having an argument- or more precisely picking up where they left off on an argument from 15 years earlier: Domonique versus Isiah.

And that right there is basically it. The genius of Rydholm and Kelliher and Suzuki and Berko and Howard and Cohen and Shapiro- the rundown, the clock, the bell, the 5 Good Minutes, the Role Play, the Errors & Omissions- it’s all perfect- but it’s that type of relationship

that we all have, where we can pick up right where we left off with someone we haven’t seen in years and be back in it- that’s what this show captures. It’s best friends, it’s sibling and sibling, it’s mentor and mentee forged for in the Washington Post newsroom, IT’S A MARRIAGE

Now of course I’m biased- I owe everything I have, just about everything I am as a broadcaster, and a good chunk of who I am as a man- to Tony and Mike and Kelliher and Rydholm- but there’s no debate: it’s the best thing we do daily on ESPN.

But it’s also the best debate show of any kind in TV history. 19 years, incredible. Here’s to a million more.
