It's Halloween tiiime. Very delayed start to my usual annual horror thread, but I'm kicking it off with beer and pizza and terrible choices in film: Friday the 13th (2009), the only Friday I haven't seen yet.

10 minutes in and I can tell my obsessive conpletionism is my undoing
Taking a moment to think about the Friday movie where the Feds arrive and shoot the hell out of Jason
There's something weirdly understated in the original Friday the 13th films about Jason graduating from the sack hood to the hockey mask that makes the scene of him masking up in the remake hilariously overwrought
Fuller, producer on the sequel: "I think there are moments we want to address, like how does the hockey mask happen."

He literally finds the mask in a box, by accident. He drops something, goes to pick it up, and happens to see the mask.
That was a complete waste of time but uh hey I guess I've seen every Friday the 13th now. Freddy vs. Jason and Jason X are still the best, no contest
Forgot to throw in a poster!
It's already the 22nd so let's make it a double feature. Next, The Ranger (2018). I think this played a festival I went to and I missed it, but here it is on Shudder (which seems to have forgotten I already did a free trial once...)
Not bad. Grisly kills and pretty scenery if that's what you're after. I expected the punk hook to be... more? after reading how much effort was apparently put into that
Wrapped up with one last film for the evening: The Babysitter (2017). I don't know if it was low expectations, or watching it off the back of two far less fun slasher flicks, but this was a blast
Between The Babysitter & Ready or Not (which I didn't like quite as much but oh boy that ending), Samara Weaving is rapidly becoming a genre hit. She's also in Mayhem with Steven Yeun and of course the sequel to The Babysitter so that's two more for this year's list lined up
I just noticed the first tweet in this thread has a typo and it's going to haunt me every time I add to it.

This is the true meaning of horror.
