#ThobelaThursday: Rhythm And Blues from the South. SA R&B appreciation thread.
Announcements:

This thread will work like the Kwaito Soundtrack episodes of #ThobelaThursday. I've selected a couple of South African R&B classics that often go underappreciated because the genre was overshadowed by bigger SA genres at its peak in SA.

Enjoy.
1. TK - I Find It So Strange (2003)

Let's start it off with someone I genuinely think could've helped R&B cement itself in SA but she passed too early.
2. Danny K - Hurts So Bad (2001)

Black people have never loved a white popstar more.
3. Freshly Ground - I'd Like (2004)

Freshly Ground wrote some of the greatest ballads this country will ever hear.
4. Ricardo & Friends - I Love You Daddy (1987)

Shout out to everybody who used to change the lyrics to "I love you Mommy" because South African men love being absent fathers.
5. Elle Tisane - Nobody But You (2002)

Gran your tissues and call your ex guys.
6. Vicky Samson - My African Dream (1996)

I was probably in my teens when I realized this wasn't the actual African national anthem.
7. 101 - The Goodbye Song (2002)

2002 was a great year for R&B in SA.
8. Jea - I'm Missing You (2002)

I've always thought of her as the SA Jennifer Lopez. This song was HUGE.
9. Lira - All My Life (2003)

Lira's debut album with 999 is still so underappreciated. She was thee it girl that summer.
10. Jamali - Love Me For Me (2004)

Ia this the greatest R&B song in SA history? The answer is yes.
11. Fiso - My Love Song (1998)

This one of the 30+ crowd. You're all welcome.
12. Loyiso Bala - Dali Wam (2007)

We say a lot about Loyiso Bala on here but I'll give him one thing, this was a slow burn banger.
14. Ernie Smith - Love Don't Hurt Me Again (2002)

If you've ever watched Backstage, You'll know this one.
15. Brenda Fassie - Life Is Going On.

As usual Brenda is a great place to end a thread.
Okay so thank you again for joining my little throwback train. We do #ThobelaThursday every Thursday, feel free to read the other threads I've already done and follow me.
