"Not Another Hybrid AU!"

#bkdk | #NSFW | Lion Katsuki + Bunny Izuku

Katsuki was restless. Not an infrequent occurrence, however this time his adrenaline spiked—anxiety thrumming through him as he gazed toward the light filled space in the corridor ahead.
His tight haunches twitched involuntarily as he cracked the bony joints in his hands, careful not to clench completely as thick claws flexed inward toward his palms. He squatted, out of sight, in the usual spot he occupied when waiting for his prey to pass on his way home from
university.

Closer. Closer.

Izuku was an hour later than usual.

An ordinary amount of time, not worth the amount of worry that had seized the typically confident, uncaring Alpha. A pit of disgust at his own pettiness formed in Katsuki’s stomach and he snarled in frustration
before his attention was refocused upon the sudden change in scent of his target.

A growl oscillated in his throat as clove and wisteria teased the tip of his nose, and unconsciously he leaned forward, shutting his eyes. As the familiar array of pheromones filled his lungs,
a sense of calm spread throughout his chest and he once again backed up into the cool shadows of the alleyway, watching as his prey crossed into view--smile lit with sunlight. The white of the youth’s teeth caught the intrusive rays as he laughed alongside his friend,
and the blond grimaced as he stuffed down the happy croon welling up. Traitorous instincts. Bakugou Katsuki didn’t simper—he was a lion, not a dog.

Suddenly a freckled nose had begun sniffing the air. Soft, loose green curls bounced as the rabbit looked around, whipping his head
from left to right as his walking companion tilted her head in question. A distracted mumble was offered in response, and they continued on their way. However, the fleeting look that Izuku tossed toward the dark alley was enough evidence that the Alpha had been noticed.
It didn’t matter. What did matter was that the rabbit’s safety was secured. It was a dangerous period of growth they were in. Even worse, the rabbit was untouched—his pure, fertile scent a siren call to any idiot foolish enough to try his hand at courtship.
It carried the ripe fruity notes of spring and impending heat—an infuriating paradox of sensuality and innocence.

Katsuki intended to protect that innocence, at least until the time was right. He growled under his breath and itched at his arms mindlessly.
His rut was stalking closer. It reminded him of his true nature—a starving animal in the skin of a man.

His friends scolded and ridiculed him for his complacency, calling him the “cowardly lion” when they were feeling brave and at a safe enough distance from his claws.
Now 20 years old, most of their peers already had courting partners. Despite having been in the same social circle for their entire lives, Katsuki and Izuku hadn’t exchanged much more than tense looks and combative remarks since they presented.
It wasn’t uncommon for relationships to change after their second gender manifested; but theirs was especially extreme.

He would like to think of it as a single event that pulled them apart, but really, from the moment they met—it was inevitable.
There was no lone cause, but a series of falling dominoes leading to an eventual collapse. It could have been their constant skinship as “packmates”--when the neighborhood kids played at forming a hierarchy.

Or the fact that they had imprinted as toddlers.
And not that they would ever let it cross their minds, but it may have just been young love.

Whatever it was, they were only twelve years old when their first season came upon them simultaneously in the middle of the local park. Fragments were all Katsuki could remember from
that day. He knew that they had been playing hero and villain. Of course, the explosive blond had been the hero, and Deku, begrudgingly, the villain.

When the usual end to their romp was reached, Deku was pinned underneath him—and all at once, something had burst within the
bunny, only to explode outward like pollen in the spring. Once it had, the fresh chemical release caused a cord in Katsuki’s mind to snap.

Blurring pieces of memory revealed a few things that occurred following the start of the abrupt heat. A border of horrified figures in the
periphery, shocked gasps and screams to stop, and a side-splitting pain when another one of their friends tackled him off of a heaving Izuku, only seconds before venom drenched fangs could break the soft skin of the new Omega’s nape.

The final, distorted, film reel of the event
laid bare the sight of a tearful and distraught Inko as she clutched onto the struggling form of her son. A young Izuku—clothes torn and bloody--had reached toward Katsuki in frantic desperation, once limpid green eyes glossy, and his pants soaked with slick to the extent that
he appeared incontinent.

After that they were separated for longer than they had been in their entire lives up to that point. Their parents were terrified by violent and premature way in which their children presented. By the time they were reunited, the damage had been done.
Neither of them were able to look each other in the eye, and the unaccustomed spike in hormone levels they experienced when near each other reduced the boys to irritable messes.

They were adults now, of mating age, and the magnetic pull remained despite the irritation that it
caused them both. Their connection was strong. Fragile. Despairingly empty, yet nauseatingly full. It was everything and nothing. It was completely exasperating. Unspoken words and boiling frustration filled the volume of the rooms they inhabited together. It had taken the form
of threatening pheromones, unsettling anyone who trespassed upon their encounters.

There was a roiling violence in the Alpha that he desired to enact upon Izuku’s entire being.

So Katsuki stayed away. For as long as he could. Even longer than his logical side insisted he had to
--satisfied with ensuring the purity of his Omega through constant vigilance and the occasional dismantling of fools who slithered too close.

Soon it wouldn’t be enough, this he knew.

And he had a feeling he wasn’t the only one.
