Y’all, I’m having a great #SoberOctober. Opening my eyes to so many great producers and products that are NA. But it occurs to me that other people are struggling. You know what? I did, too. I literally had to take drugs to ween myself off of alcohol. (Happy to share in the DMs.)
But I also want to say I came back. I came back to life. I came back to hope. I even came back to drinking, albeit with an entirely new perspective. Most of you won’t understand but, for those who do, you get me. Alcohol is a wonderful product but like all wonderful things...
...there is too much, and that too much leads to a a spiraling hole of regret. You are unhealthy, unhappy, and have set a torch to the very things you love. You may not be an alcoholic, but you have a problem. The solution might not be: try this NA cocktail. I get it.
The first step is this: ask yourself why do you drink? If you find it’s “why not,” cool. There really shouldn’t be a reason apart from the sensual enjoyment. If you find yourself saying, for whatever reason, because I have to, that’s another thing altogether.
If it’s: I have to drink because I’m at a bar, I have to drink because it’s more fun, I have to drink because I’m shy, I have to drink because it’s been a hard day—then you need a deeper dive. The next steps are up to you.
Just know that I am with you. I would rather you unfollow me to avoid triggers than stay unhealthy. I’ll still be with you, cheerleading in the background. Either way, hang in there. Sober October can become Sober November, December, etc.
I’d love for people to post resources on this thread. Let’s help the fuck out of each other. We’re all stronger when we love and care for one another.
