I have noticed something in the games that I& #39;m playing, that many people (myself included) are so committed to playing to find out and being open to the possibilities that we are reticent to say what we want to happen.
I& #39;ve had so many conversations with different groups where we talk about what we want to happen with the narrative and it& #39;s a chorus of "I& #39;m ok with whatever" or hesitant declarations of what they want followed by "but it doesn& #39;t *need* to happen" as a caveat to their desires
and like, I think for the most part it& #39;s people wanting to be accommodating and open to possibilities but narrative stalls if no one wants anything and I think it& #39;s good to honour our desires, narrative or otherwise, even if it& #39;s not possible to get what we want in the end
So I have started being more honest about what I want, and how to get there, and I& #39;ve been listening to what other players want and doing my best to make that happen, even when they tell me it doesn& #39;t need to happen (shout out to Stars and Wishes for making this really easy)
and honestly? it& #39;s scary to say what you want and work towards it! It feels like I& #39;m hijacking the narrative even if I& #39;m not actually doing it.

It& #39;s much easier to champion other people& #39;s desires, but I don& #39;t think you can have one without the other
It& #39;s ok to want things when you play games and it is good to express what you want because if we all know what everyone wants then we can work together to tell a story we all like, even if that means no one 100% gets what they want. It& #39;s not selfish, it& #39;s good collaboration
