I have noticed something in the games that I'm playing, that many people (myself included) are so committed to playing to find out and being open to the possibilities that we are reticent to say what we want to happen.
I've had so many conversations with different groups where we talk about what we want to happen with the narrative and it's a chorus of "I'm ok with whatever" or hesitant declarations of what they want followed by "but it doesn't *need* to happen" as a caveat to their desires
and like, I think for the most part it's people wanting to be accommodating and open to possibilities but narrative stalls if no one wants anything and I think it's good to honour our desires, narrative or otherwise, even if it's not possible to get what we want in the end
So I have started being more honest about what I want, and how to get there, and I've been listening to what other players want and doing my best to make that happen, even when they tell me it doesn't need to happen (shout out to Stars and Wishes for making this really easy)
and honestly? it's scary to say what you want and work towards it! It feels like I'm hijacking the narrative even if I'm not actually doing it.

It's much easier to champion other people's desires, but I don't think you can have one without the other
It's ok to want things when you play games and it is good to express what you want because if we all know what everyone wants then we can work together to tell a story we all like, even if that means no one 100% gets what they want. It's not selfish, it's good collaboration
