🎃Arthouse Spooky Movies Thread🎃
Here's some indie, offbeat horror(ish) films I watched recently.

Demon (2015)
The real horror is making a fool of yourself at your own wedding. Best drunken ensemble scenes since Underground.
The Lighthouse (2019)
A lockdown instant classic. Great aspect ratio.
Good Manners (2017)
Brazilian lesbian werewolf horror drama. It's almost two movies in one. Touching.
The Endless (2017)
Two brothers coming to terms with their hippie UFO cult past. Perhaps a bit too much cosmic horror derailing the psychological thriller.
The Wailing (2016)
It starts as a kind of detective comedy, but turns into a brilliant paranormal Rashomon.
A Ghost Story (2017)
The existential kind of horror. Beautifully restrained. A bit self-indulgent in its slowness, it gives you plenty of time to think about your own mortality.
November (2017)
Estonian folk tales are terrifying. Incredible cinematography. One of the most underrated movies in recent years.
If you liked Midsommar, this is the next level.
Colors Out of Space (2019)
Apt, colorful Lovecraft adaptation. You are basically waiting for Nicholas Cage to go insane.

It's also the long awaited comeback of weirdo director Richard Stanley. Bonus viewing: Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley's Island of Dr. Moreau
Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970)
A vintage one. Impossibly creepy Czech fantasy-horror.
It's like a lush, messed up Alice in Wonderland.
Only if you are ok with the sexualization of a 13yo actress.
Prospect (2018)
I'm cheating because it's more of a sci-fi thriller. Father & daughter mining in a ridiculously dangerous alien forest.

Impressive how far it can go with a relatively low budget.
Some other all time favorites I already tweeted about:

The Witch, Under The Skin, Mandy, Let the Right One In, Only lovers left alive, Troll 2, The Green Room, Thirst, A girl walks home alone at night, Hausu, Midsommar, Upstream Color...

Feel free to send your recommendations!
Vast of the Night (2019)
Two teens investigate a mysterious frequency buzzing over a small town in New Mexico. A Twilight Zone-like mystery with a vivid 50s setting, terrific direction and acting.
