All my life until I heard Sinu deliver her TEDx talk in 2014, I thought rural Indian women needed to be taught about menstrual hygiene, abt using sanitary napkins, abt reproductive disorders. But there was Sinu on the stage and telling us that we urban women got it all wrong! (2)
Sinu Joseph's book Rtu Vidya fills the gaps in our understanding of menstruation. She confirms what some of us know - that our ancestors had gained a remarkable understanding of the natural world right down to the sub-atomic level. I loved the apt analogies used in the book. (3)
Sinu's book breaks down paradoxes such as how women are worshipped as Shakti on one hand & on the other they're supposed to isolate themselves when menstruating. She makes us realize that these are not contradictions but a part of an integrated understanding of the female body(4)
