i feel like we seriously need to have a discussion about how (international) kpop twt’s perception/the way they talk about korea is very.... weird and it lowkey comes off as racist/xenophobic when you deep it...
i COULD go on about how many i-fans seem to think that korea revolves around kpop when in reality that is far from the truth. idol music is a niche genre + you never see pop stans saying “oh taylor swift should do a rap song americans love those”
or “american GP is gonna fall in love with madison beer’s visuals”. it’s just very strange how people talk about koreans... or even when people say things like “knetz this” based on netizenbuzz sites AKA the least reliable source on anything.
but onto my main point, seeing how y’all love to assume that kpop idols can’t tell right from wrong is very problematic when you think about it... south korea is VERY connected, it’s a first-world country with the fastest internet speed in the world and houses samsung.
plus, morals are universal. so babying a kpop idol, i feel, runs deeper than fan behavior it’s a highkey problematic thing to do in general. y’all hold 15 year olds on twitter to a higher standard than these grown adults.
the conversation may be a little different when it comes to cultural sensitivity, but BASIC MORALS??? telling right from wrong?? girl
But That’s Just My Two Cents.... i’m not korean or asian i’m a black person living in america so if this thread is wrong or overstepping i’ll delete it.
