What I’ve saved PER MONTH since my employer started letting me work from home:
Child care: $800
Dry Cleaning: $120
Gasoline: $120
Food: $200
PTO: 1-8 hours
Commute time: 40 hours
Sleep gained: 20 hours
Exercise gained: 20 hours
Weight loss: 1-5 lbs.

So, I effectively got $1,240 per month raise and 20% reduced hours at ZERO COST to the employer. I got healthier, wealthier, and happier.
To lure me away, another company would have to offer that $1,240 + 30% per month, and I still probably wouldn’t take it.

Multiply this by the 100s of people at my company now working from home. Many are healthier and costing the company less in health benefits, using personal time for vacation and not chores, and have more money despite not being given an actual pay raise.
So, employers out there:
If your people are just as productive at home, then why the heck would you ever want to bring your people back into the office??? Even if there is a slight drop in productivity, it is probably more than offset by what the company is gaining.

All this being said, I understand many workers themselves still prefer the office, and even some WFH people like to go in once in a while. And that’s what workers really need - flexibility and choice.
