Gnostic roots

Genesis 3:4-5 - "But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

These words spoken by the devil is the root of Gnosticism and evil.

The Gnostic's believe that the Bible as we know it was not written by the Creator of all things but a lesser god (some have varying views). Many view the serpent as good, and that it was trying to help man-kind unlock it's potential.

Many believe because the serpent said "Ye shall be as gods" that it meant we are like unto God. This easily disproven lie has fooled so many. The reason? I think it is because people like the idea of having no consequences. Being like God means you create your own morals

Look at the verse closely. the serpent says "Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil".

This is clearly stating that Adam and Eve shall be as gods, in the sense they will understand good and evil. Not that they will be as gods in all manners.

How do people not get this?

So the gnostic will teach that a person is as a god, and use this line as proof. If this is so, why can you not create instantaneously?

They may say, because our God does prevents it, and hence, you need to 'unlock' your powers (for lack of a better phrase).

Really, it goes back to the same issue - people want to feel like they are something more. They do not want to accept simple humanity. They do not want to be powerful, they want to 'Ascend'

They do not realize the highest ascension is to be a servant of the Most High God.

Lastly, I would assume, like many people do, and rightfully so, they will say the English version of Genesis 3:5 is corrupt, and the Hebrew speaks more clearly. To counter this, I will bust out my Hebrew Bible for the nest part of this thread.
