sexualization towards minors, how it’s harmful and dangerous, a thread:

sexualizing minors is wrong and ALWAYS will be. if we don’t set a defined line on what is too far, pedophilia is going to be more and more normalized. the atla fandom has a MAJOR problem with excusing and brushing over, sometimes even praising pedophilia. this is NOT okay.

for once, please, put aside the ship wars or character prejudices, and let’s use our platforms to protect the minors on here. we can NOT allow this sexualization and blatant pedophilia to be normalized.

in light of recent events, i want to draw attention to why aging up characters to justify sexualization is wrong & also why in these cases, it’s not only sickening but also incredibly dangerous towards real minors to forgive or excuse.

to start, i’d like to make a point that fictional minors are minors and they represent REAL minors. when we validate the sexualization of fictional minors, we also begin to justify the sexualization of real minors. this is SO dangerous.

real minors are on the internet and are being exposed to this behavior, it’s preparing us to be groomed — and fairly in my opinion, it is grooming us to think this is normal. not only has this tolerance and excusal towards the matter made minors susceptible, but it’s made

adults think that it’s okay. it is not. and if you’re an adult, it is up to you to know right from wrong. it is up to you to protect the children on here and to never encourage or excuse the wrongdoings in matters as such. that makes you just as horrible as a person.

we so easily forgive these adults for sexualizing minors. well i am saying now that this NEEDS to stop — it’s absolutely necessary that this tolerance and excusal ceases. adults should know better than to sexualize children.

fictional or not, you are endangering and harming children when you sexualize them. sexualizing minors when you are fully aware that they are minors (to the point you have to age them up to excuse something you KNOW is wrong), makes you are a pedophile.

i don’t care if you deny it, it’s the truth. if you find it cool or arousing to read/write nsfw of minors or characters who are viewed as minors, there is something wrong with you. don’t lie to me, when you envision the minors in atla, we see them as minors.

and seeing them as adults is 1) pedophilic and 2) grossly dangerous. minors aren’t adults. and if you’re an adult, when you hear that a character is a minor, you should know better than to “see” them as an adult or in other words, excuse your pedo urges.

some of you on here are disgusting and your actions are inexcusable. this fandom has a serious problem w this, this & it shouldn’t be controversial. children are children. minors are minors. and adults are adults. this is not funny or excusable, this is really, truly dangerous.

please, take a moment and educate yourself. when you excuse the actions of someone who sexualizes minors (fictional or not) you are endangering every single minor on the internet and in the world. we need to protect our minors. we can NOT allow this behavior to be normalized.
