we'll start with INDIAN CLASSICAL DANCES–

Although there are various dances and performance arts, here are 9 main dances we'll cover in this thread. These dances require a long training period to learn.
1. Bharatnatyam from Tamil Nadu
2. Kathak from Uttar Pradesh
3. Kuchipudi from Andhra Pradesh
4. Odissi from Odisha
5. Kathakali from Kerala
6. Sattriya from Assam
7. Manipuri from Manipur
8. Mohiniyattam from Kerala
9. Chhau from Eastern India
These dances are traditionally regional and include music and recitations from local language or sanskrit.
BHARATNATYAM

Considered one of the oldest indian classical dances, it dates back to 2nd century C.E. It was nurtured in temples and expresses religious themes and spiritual ideas. It takes 7 to 11 years to learn it properly and has played a huge role in Indian freedom movement.
