Very excited that despite the growing Islamophobia & xenophobia we're back in 2006 where a wealthy English man pretends to a be a clueless asshole with exaggeratedly offensive cultural views and a repressed Muslim identity comes from a poor goat-filled village in Kazakhstan
"Haha they fell for it" really isn't funny or clever when it comes to demonizing Muslims. We get it, we're seen as the dirty, evil, poor, barbaric expandable proxy kills because some Muslim survived colonialism & fought back against Western or Soviet imperialism in our region.
But show one US politician being horny and it's all forgiven. "My wife is the fifth one the fourth one just died haha funny"

It's a good reminder that the lives and tribulations of brown folks around the world are literally expendable backdrops to stuff affecting Western folks
"Haha look these US people are racist that's embarrassing"

WE KNOW

They're killing us, taking our rights, stealing our wealth, ravaging our nations, destroying our mosques, tearing our headscarves off, intimidating our children, and still present us as the scary ones
But hey enjoy your movie and help fund and justify shit that makes Middle Eastern and Muslim cultures and people expendable exaggerated props for the politics and gain and glory and wealth and entertainment of Western folks
We'll deal with years of validated xenophobia & Islamophobia that'll linger as "funny" catchphrases subsuming into the western collective consciousness. Oh, and good luck with the discourse about the pretend-character being sexist or anti-semitic. We'll wait our turn. No hurries.
My wife! Haha funny the brown poor clueless man said wife *puts on western people hat* but it's also a profound sociopolitical exploration of the fears hidden below the surface of a polarized American people OH LOOK A GOAT
