fourth year of chang’an, luoyang.
the restoration of the sky palace is almost over, luoyang is about to hold a ceremony to honour the skys. it is the height of the golden years, empress wu is informed that an informant is

coming to the capital with important information, and has almost been assassinated on their journey. empress wu is angered and commands her people to look into the series of unsolved cases. from then, luoyang becomes a dangerous place with secret powers set in motion.

the bad deputy marshal, gao bingzhu is accidentally ravelled into the one of the cases due to their activities around luoyang and framed by their colleagues. and inner guard siyue, from one of the big families, gets in touch with gbz due to their duties, only to realise

that there is more to the case than is first believed. these two from different backgrounds who can’t see eye to eye are forced to work together. the second son of the bai liting (he’s some lord but i can’t tell the characters), bai li hongyi has to work with the two in order

to figure out the truth about who poisoned his father to death.
following the trail of the copper ore, they accidentally uncover the plot for a coup by song liang, a lord from the war department. and the evil cult of chunqiu dao also slowly comes to the surface

the warriors of chunqiu set a plot that blows up the biggest food storage facility and a loyal lord of the dali si is also sacrificed, however, he leaves a clue and reveals that the food stored has been moved a long time ago. apparently their secret has been

discovered by the rebels in the chunqiu dao and the food and ore that was meant for the sky palace has been diverted to them instead. the chunqiu dao are planning to enter luoyang through a series of secret tunnels, and take down the dynasty.

the three uncover the plot and along with (character too blurry) steers luoyang away from it’s would-be bloody fate. siyue breaks off from their corrupted family and pays the price to chase their dreams and be righteous with their life. and gao zhubin and bai li hongyi

also give up on romance and their previous bias cast on each other and joins the “lian fang”, becoming the sting protectors of luoyang and the Tang Dynasty.
