CQC report 'Out of Sight - Who Cares?' published today
https://www.cqc.org.uk/publications/themed-work/rssreview
Recommendations include: Community teams across the country must have skills in caring for autistic people, and people with a learning disability and/or mental health condition to prevent them from having a crisis, and support
them when they do
People should be given accessible information about their rights such as resources produced by the @BIHRhumanrights and the @EHRC
Human rights must be integral to the planning and delivery of care, this includes training in human rights and checks against whether reasonable adjustments are taking place.
Before admission to hospital people must have assessments through community teams so
that their needs are understood and they have clear and measurable objectives set for their
admission to hospital, and receive care in an appropriate environment.
On admission, further assessments must take place, including for autism, sensory, mental
health, physical health, trauma, learning disability and any other relevant assessments...There must be a
contract in place stating the timeframe for these assessments to take place.
All inpatient mental health units must provide a therapeutic environment to enable the delivery of trauma-informed and person-centred care in line with existing evidence-based
models... autistic people must be cared for in small personcentred units w/the right sensory environment
Discharge planning must start before admission, without fail, with a clear timeframe in place.
