Ogun state's Attorney-General shared some upcoming cases that are coming up against security officials accused of extra-judicial shootings.

Journalists, here is WHY and HOW to take him up on this offer, as in inroad to reporting #EndSARS ethically.
Issa thread, sorry. 🙂
WHY follow these cases?
1. Becos we must put our money + efforts where our mouths are - you can't criticise government & also refuse to shine a light on efforts. Amplify what's right with the same energy as u sensationalised what is wrong.
2. We have to, or else justice can fail
How do we follow these cases:
Journos outside Ogun state + those within: start by calling the numbers.
A "pre-trials" story is necessary to situate what is to come.
Get interviews and details.
Those outside Ogun? Pin down officials, who'll feed you quotes, esp during trial.
NOW is time to get your sources. Gegen-pressing.
Make those relationships with reliable officials, not rushing to call them in the heat of trials.

Next, we've a date - 10 Nov: start preparing. Delegate a reporter to research the names, incidences for Case 1. Then other cases.
You need to know your terms: The difference between manslaughter and murder.
You also need to ask what the court reporting restrictions are.
PLEASE do NOT turn up to court and wing it. Try to ask ahead and get accreditation if needed. Obey the law.
E.g courts may not allow you..
Report INSIDE.
If you know this ahead, then it means you have to POSITION YOURSELF outside court after, and ask your questions there. I'm serious, these are things I have done. For Okah terrorism trial na outside I dey shout question give Nigeria diplomat. E no answer me LMAO.
But there were days when other actors, even lawyers for the South African government answered me, and gave me quotes. Point is, be ready to doorstep people. All legal way na way.
Next, be ready to explain to the people what is happening. Think of different languages, formats.
