[DEBATING] [ADHD]
I recently opened up on a Debating Seriousposting thread about debating with ADHD and received a sizable amount of support, references, and other words of encouragement both directly to me and anonymously.

I realize this is a struggle for quite a few people and would like to be of help in anyway. Moreover, I realize how important it is for people who have partners, teammates, or other friends who may have ADHD to understand how to help them cope with it.
I first want to preface this by saying that ADHD is experienced on a spectrum and manifests differently for everyone. I personally am inattentive and my own case is not severe. Whatever is on this thread is not indicative of all experiences and will be biased towards my own.
How does ADHD manifest in debating?
A lot of the skills in debating are diametrically opposed to the struggles of ADHD. Have trouble doing things as quickly and efficiently as possible? 15 minute prep time.

Have trouble organizing and creating structure? That's exactly what is expected of a first speaker. Have trouble listening and paying attention? Do it for 7 people for 49 minutes. Really, even sitting down for 2 hours can be incredibly difficult and make me feel very restless.
The worst part is I have a lot of difficulty distinguishing if these struggles are out of my control or if I'm just bad at debating. These struggles are most definitely not separate from your own self-esteem and can even root from or be worsened by separate feelings of anxiety.
How have I been able to deal with it over the years?
I would recommend people to pitch in with their own ways of being able to deal with it since I'm not a professional and am speaking only from personal experience. I'm dividing this into three: emotionally, rounds, development
