Today, on the anniversary of the boys’ deaths, we are calling on the House of Lords to put the rights of the child first in the domestic abuse bill, and change the presumption of parental involvement in cases where children are at risk of harm from domestic abuse.

Our data shows that almost half (45.2%) of survivors with children had support needs around the child contact, while one in five survivors (20.5%) needed support around family law.

Jack and Paul’s mother, Claire Throssell, says: "There is a deadly culture within the family court system of ‘parental rights’ and ‘parental alienation’. This leads to child contact with the abusive parent before vital reports and recommendations are carried out. "

She continues: "Tragically, these children are merely letters on serious case reviews, but their lives, however short, must be recognised and remembered for who they were - children let down and harmed by government bodies, which did not do enough to protect them."
