That £12 billion of government money for Test and Trace, funnelled through private companies and more or less entirely wasted, is bigger than the whole General Practice budget for England.
It's almost twice the total NHS capital spending budget for buildings and equipment.
Comparatively tiny requests by the NHS are refused for "lack of money". But billions are channelled through Serco, Deloitte and other contractors, without competitive tendering, in a system overseen by incompetent corporate executives, without relevant experience.
So this is the state of England today.
There is no limit to the public money the government will make available to private companies. But it can't find the small sums required to feed hungry children.
