George Mukabi , Kenya's first pop star created a record that sold 100k copies in the 1950s. His money was likely stolen by the white owned record labels.

@NAssemblyKE did nothing for Mr Mukabi.

He died broke.
Then in the 1960s Daudi Kabaka brought the African Twist style. His smash hit Helule Helule was covered by British band The Tremeloes. This should've earned him life changing money. The white owned labels probably stole it.

@NAssemblyKE did nothing for Kabaka. He died broke.
Fadhili Williams wrote "Malaika" which was recorded and released by Miriam Makeba. It's among her biggest songs. It made millions of dollars. Fadhili Williams copyright was stolen.

@NAssemblyKE did nothing for him. He died broke.
In the early 1980s @themmushrooms wrote Jambo Bwana (Hakuna Matata). It is probably the most pirated song on Kenya's history. Even @Disney stole it. Them Mushrooms are pursuing a copyright claim to this day.

@NAssemblyKE has done nothing for @themmushrooms.
In 1984 musicians created @TheMCSK . But there was no legal framework for it to work until 2001. (The year of Kabaka and Fadhili deaths). That's the first time since independence that @NAssemblyKE did anything for musicians.
It wasn't done because of MPs. It was done because Poxi Presha was basically camping in Sheria House. I believe the bill to help musicians was over by Then AG Amos Wako. Not MPs.
Poxi Presha dies broke in a cell. He had been arrested while he was trying to enforce copyright law directly because serikali was not doing anything.
In the early 2000s a RSA musician stole a song by @namelesskenya. He had to deal with this by himself. @NAssemblyKE did nothing.
In the 2010s @timelessnoel1 and @bruznewton creates mega hits with dance styles and pioneered an entire new sub genre.

They were ignored by @NAssemblyKE .
Then in 2019 after lobbying for almost 10 years by @Rufftoneigiigi and others. @KiarieJohn moved a bill to amend the Copyright Act of Kenya. This was the first time in 20 years that the @NAssemblyKE did anything to support the creative sector.
It took 10 years of lobbying. Tears and crying to get a measly amendment. The Copyright Act is outdated anyway already but that's all we got.
Lakini in 2020 the @NAssemblyKE hired a choreographer and a video team to record a video to support the work of Master KG and Nomcebo Zikode who are South Africans. The video will be posted on YT and will earn revenue for the RSA artists.
The initiative was even pushed by @SpeakerJBMuturi and @HonAmosKimunya who is the leader of Majority in Parliament.

I stand corrected but I do not remember anytime in histoy when either of these have pushed anything for the Creative industry in Kenya.
Kenyan taxpayers time and shillings have been spent to earn revenue for a South African musician. And the MPs from South Africa have not even done this (for their own ).
