My grandparents are stuck in their basement in the middle of #EastTroublesomeFire in Colorado... could use all the good thoughts or prayers or whatever you got....
I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep tonight
Latest update from aunt
Update from aunt again. #EastTroublesomeFire they are alive and doing fine, choosing to wait it out! That’s my grandparents heh
Correction: they wouldn’t leave *last night* when contacted. They we’re very calm and prepared and decided to stay. The visit was last night. Still no word from dispatch this mornin as of 6:30 MST #EastTroublesomeFire
They’ve been preparing for this since they built the house 50 years ago. Grandpa was a firefighter, so he knew what he was doing. I’m hopeful they’re still okay, just unable to contact.
Confirmed from Sheriff: The home is a total loss.

#EastTroublesomeFire Search and Rescue is going to see if they are still safe in their bunker...

In loving memory, The Big Yellow House
Search and rescue couldn’t reach them. They are going to try again later when they can. We’re assuming the worst though.
Dad talked to the Fire Chief again. "At this point, its not a Search and Rescue, its a Search and Recovery"
They lived long, wonderful lives, full of joy. And they went together, peacefully, content with their choice to stay in their home. They never wanted to live a day apart. Going together is what they wanted.
Just this summer my Grandpa gave my dad the original plans for the home, and we are going to rebuild, just as it was, and more. They left us with so much love and memories, and we are going to build upon those with even more.
Thank you all for the love and support the last 24 hours. We're hoping tomorrow the Fire Chief will be able to get photos for us, if they can get back up there.
I loving memory, Lyle and Marylin Hileman. Your family loves you and misses you, and will go forward with the love, dedication, kindness, and strength you taught to us.
Their bodies were recovered this afternoon. They were found in each other’s arms.
